Abrams, Joyce & Harry, Forest Edge Farm ~ We began our journey into the world of llamas with two young males in 1995, then added several females over the next year and began breeding. We increased our herd over several years to 21 lovely llamas who are protected by our two Maremma livestock guardian dogs. All of our llamas are sweet natured and many have fine fiber that we use to make our popular felted llama fiber hats. All of our llamas have good basic training, including basic obstacle training. Some have show experience and some are pack trained and have packing experience. Others have participated in parades and visits to other public events. Joyce also writes for the national newsmagazine, Llama Life II, and is chair of a national committee developing standards of care for llamas and alpacas. Locally, Harry and Joyce both work with the team of SOLO folks who find ways to improve the lives of llamas in need of new homes, and Harry spends most of his time just being with our wonderful animals. Bielskis, Chuck and Ingrid, Lucky Chucky Llamas ~ We have had llamas since 1979. Currently we have a stud, one gelding and thirteen older females, some as old as 22 years old. We have left the breeding to others. We hope to help reduce the trauma of llamas needing new homes. The Oregon State University experimental farm near Jacksonville, OR requested the use of llamas for protecting boar goats from coyotes. Three goats were killed before any llamas were put into the pens. None were lost while our llamas were in charge. Many of our llamas have been in several local parades and visited grade schools. Many visits to our llama farm over the years have included: abused children, children from day care, clubs, & people that wanted to know more about llamas. Casto, Ginger and Ward, James ~ River Dance Ranch ~ We have been raising llamas since 1998. We specialize in breeding colorful appaloosa llamas with prize winning fiber and gentle dispositions. Our herdsire, Tahachapi, has produced 9 offspring all boasting appaloosa markings from delicate dilute silver and white backgrounds to bold, loud calico markings. Our Jr. herdsire, Sundancer, (out of Tahachapi) is carrying on his father's record with two female cria's sporting his appy markings with the added glory of curly and spiral fiber. Our prime interest in raising llamas is producing sound, healthy and gentle beings with spinning quality fiber. We are able to discover each llamas potential and train them to realize their niche in llama life. We have sold llamas for pets, packing, and as sentinels for sheep and goats. Ginger processes llama fiber, spins and knits all manner of items from scarves, vests, sweaters and socks. Grieshaber, Al and Pat, Blue by you Ranch ~ We have 14 llamas. Some are trained for driving. We have a Fiber Room in our barn to card and package fiber. I am involved with emergency rescue for SOLO. Ranstead, Bill and Lois and Justin Goodrich, Evans Creek Llamas & Total Llama Care~ We have about 6 llamas now. Also have rescues through out the year, currently we have three. We have been in the area for tex years now and are deeply involved with rescue, herd health, shearing and consultation for all. Victor, Allen and Liz, Bolt Mountain Farm ~ In 1996 we became captivated by llamas, and brought home our first pair. It soon became obvious that just two llamas were not enough and so our little herd grew. Over the years we have enjoyed breeding, showing and marketing llamas.
